작업 과정

내가 보듯 당신은 나를 볼 수 없다 는 댄스필름과 라이브 퍼포먼스를 하나의 공간 안에 중첩하여 구성한 작업이다. 본 작업은 신체와 이미지, 공간과 시선 사이에서 끊임없이 변화하는 지각의 관계를 탐구한다.

댄스필름은 왜곡된 벽면 프로젝션 매핑을 통해 신체와 공간에 대한 감각을 변형시키며, 실제 공간과 영상 공간의 경계를 흐리는 시각적 환경을 형성한다.
이 영상은 단순한 기록물이 아닌 고유한 시간성과 움직임의 언어를 지닌 또 하나의 신체로 존재하고, 투사된 신체는 과거를 재생하는 이미지에 머무르지 않고 현재의 공간 안에서 라이브 신체와 함께 지속적으로 수행하는 또 하나의 퍼포머가 되어 투사된 신체와 끊임없이 관계를 맺는다.
실제 신체와 영상 속 신체는 서로를 드러내고, 감추고, 중첩시키며 새로운 관계를 만들어가며 하나의 신체를 바라보는 경험이 아니라 서로 다른 시간성을 가진 두 개의 신체가 하나의 공간 안에서 공존하는 경험을 형성한다.

이 구조 안에서 관객의 시선은 더 이상 수동적인 관람에 머물지 않게 된다.
관객은 바라보는 행위를 통해 이미지와 신체, 실제 공간과 가상의 공간 사이의 관계를 끊임없이 새롭게 인지하며, 존재감(Presence)과 물리적 깊이감(Physical Depth)을 경험하게 되는 흐름을 갖는다.
결과적으로 내가 보듯 당신은 나를 볼 수 없다는 시선과 공간, 이미지와 신체 사이에서 형성되는 관계를 탐구하며, 관객의 지각 자체를 하나의 안무적 요소이자 퍼포먼스의 일부로 끌어들이고자 한다.

Process

YOU CAN’T SEE ME WHERE I CAN SEE YOU layers a dance film and a live performance within the same physical space, exploring how perception is continuously reshaped through the relationships between body, image, space, and gaze.

The dance film employs distorted wall projection mapping to transform the perception of body and space, blurring the boundary between the physical environment and the projected image.
Rather than functioning as documentation, the film exists as another body within the space, carrying its own temporality and movement language.
The projected body does not simply replay the past; it continues to perform alongside the live body as an active performer within the present space.
The live performance unfolds in constant dialogue with this projected body. The live body and the projected body continually reveal, conceal, overlap, and reshape one another, creating new relationships through their encounter.
Rather than presenting a single body or a single moment, the work allows two bodies with different temporalities to coexist within the same space.

Within this structure, the audience’s gaze no longer remains passive observation but becomes an active component of the work itself.
Through the act of looking, viewers continuously renegotiate the relationships between image and body, physical and virtual space, presence and absence. In doing so, they experience an intensified sense of presence and physical depth.
Ultimately, YOU CAN’T SEE ME WHERE I CAN SEE YOU investigates the relationships formed between gaze, space, image, and body. Rather than treating perception as a means of observing performance, the work invites perception itself to become part of the choreography.
